X-Ray Inspection - Large format Cases & Sacks

Whether they are used to pack large quantities of products directly, such as cereals, vegetables and meat, or as a shipping container for smaller packages, cases and sacks are usually at the very end of the production line in a food processing plant.

Typical Applications

Safeline X-ray inspection systems are installed in numerous plants covering a variety of case and sack inspection applications. These include detecting contaminants such as stones in potato chips. Cases filled with packs of potato chips are systematically inspected. The inspection can also be used to identify hard lumps of product or seasoning in extruded snack food.

Since packing in cases and sacks is usually performed at the end of the production process, it is often viewed as the ideal inspection point. However, this apparent advantage must be weighed not only against the value of product likely to be rejected, but also the inevitably lower sensitivity of inspecting large quantities of products versus smaller items earlier in the production process.

X-Ray solutions

Because of the challenge of the size of these packs, Safeline has developed a specific system to handle cases and sacks: the InspireX R80.

InspireX 80 from Safeline: providing optimum protection for your products, your customers and the reputation of your brands.

Safeline’s Series InspireX R80 comprises two configurations of system to suit a wide variety of inspection needs across the food, packaging and pharmaceutical industries:

Series InspireX R80 for large conveyed cartons, cases and loose products, is available with horizontal or vertical X-ray beams.

Computer-controlled Dual X-ray generators with powerful computer data and image analysis system combine to make Safeline inspection systems superior at detecting minute changes that signal product contamination or deviation from accepted specifications. Sophisticated image processing software also provides rapid analysis, detection and rejection - automatically
